Role: Principal Software Engineer
A Principal Software Engineer at M&S is a very senior engineering role, and thus the purpose of this role, is to lead strategy, architecture, development, and work in conjunction with our senior product team in creating and implementing the vision for digital at M&S.
We want folk with an innovation mindset with excellent awareness of new technologies and a solid grasp on the full engineering stack but who can also guide the development and progression of engineers of all levels.
As a senior member of the engineering team, we want Principal Software Engineer that will evangelise for improving working practices with a key focus on automated testing. They’ll also be able to coach teams towards making these new practices ubiquitous and foster an environment of cross-training so that the teams become more effective cross-functional units while also improving as individual engineers.
The FESK team:
To succeed in this role you would have prior experiences architecting and developing frameworks and a strong dev ops background. You would likely have build up communities around projects before and may even have successful open source projects on the go. You would have experience developing in a variety of working environments, technologies and industries using different development methodologies. You are considered by your colleagues as an expert in many of the technologies you use and invest time in keeping on top of new entries to the tech landscape.
