C++ Software Engineer
Do you want to write software to support the Naval Ships of the UK’s Navy? Our naval Ships Combat Systems business is looking to recruit a number of experienced C++ dedicated engineers to support ongoing project work.
Your role will be to undertake a range of complex software development activities in line with relevant processes, under the direction of the Software Manager, writing software used on our Combat Management Systems products and creating C++ code.
As a C++ software engineer you will use your existing experience to design, test and develop solutions which contribute to the success of a range of large and small scale projects including the combat systems on new Type 26 frigates and also upgrades to some of the Royal Navy’s existing fleets.
Naval Ships Combat Systems design, develop, integrate and support combat systems that enable navies to protect nations. We provide a range of combat system products and services that support ships throughout their lives, working with our customers to ensure they can respond to ever-evolving maritime threats.
Your main responsibilities as a C++ Software Engineer will involve:
To lead software design to ensure that the overall system will behave according to its requirements in large & complex components.
Write high quality software according to coding standards and maintain existing software by investigating issues and identifying solutions.
Write software test schedules and use them to test the system.
Clearly document appropriate information so that others, including the customer, can understand the software and the system.
Fully contribute to process improvement within the team to ensure that the team always looks to improve how it works.
As part of the software team you will be expected to work closely with team members, and support the team and/or project leadership in daily activities.
Your skills and qualifications as a C++ Software Engineer:
Software development lifecycle and processes (e.g. design, coding, unit testing)
Experience of software development including desktop-based applications in an appropriate language: C++
Windows Active Directory and domain knowledge
Configuration management experience
Degree qualified in related STEM subject or equivalent working experience

Salary range – Up to £57,750 depending on skills & experience
